Meizu Pro 7 launch unveils double-sided display
Meizu, the Chinese phone manufacturer, has officially launched the Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus. The model will build on the success of the Meizu Pro 6, which has a reputation for fast processing speeds and a strong battery life.
The Meizu Pro 7’s standout feature is its double-sided display. On the front, we have a 5.2 inch super AMOLED touchscreen (5.7 inches for the Pro Plus). While on the back, there’s a smaller 2 inch AMOLED display. The smaller back screen shows notifications such as your health and fitness stats, the weather forecast and the song you’re currently playing. You can even use the back display to take a discrete selfie.

This phone’s camera will rival more expensive competitors, such as the iPhone 7. The dual-camera is 12 megapixels, and the video is capable of recording 2160 p at 30 fps or 720 p at 100 fps. The camera also has the functionality you’d expect from a 2017 flagship, including face recognition and touch focus. There are two sensors: one for shooting in colour and another for black and white images. These are coupled up with f/2.0 apertures, which help the camera perform well in dim light.
Aside from its dual-sided display, the Meizu Pro 7’s design looks unadventurous. Similarly to the Meizu Pro 6, we have a slim, metal-bodied phone with narrow bezels. It’s easy enough on the eye, but the back display is what’s going to have people talking. The Meizu Pro 7 will be available in black, gold and red, while the Pro 7 Plus will be available in black, gold and silver.
Buying the Meizu Pro 7 in the UK
Meizu phones have been notoriously hard to get hold of in the UK. But that’s not a Europewide problem; several French retailers are set to sell the phone just across the channel. If you’re desperate to get your hands on it, your best bet is Amazon. Hopefully, as Meizu bring out more innovative features like their double-sided display, demand for the phone will rise in the UK and models will become more readily available.
