When sifting through the various deals, don’t only look at monthly fees. Instead, think about the entire package that’s on offer. Here are a few things to check when comparing iPhone deals:

Customer perks: Look out for customer perks like cheap data abroad or money off concert tickets. Make sure it’s a perk you’re likely to use, rather than just a nice-to-have.

Customer support: Some network operators have standards when it comes to customer service and others do not. Choose a provider with a team that’s helpful and easy to contact if you need to speak with them urgently.

Contract terms: What’s the length of the contract? Can monthly payments go up mid-way through the contract? If you’re investing a lot in a phone, go through the contract with a fine-tooth comb before signing up.

Pricing plans: Compare how much you’ll pay altogether. If you’re on a monthly contract, factor in upfront costs and the cost of your minutes, texts and data.

Your eye will always be drawn to the iPhone deal with the cheapest price tag. But, always consider the quality of service you’re getting and work out the total amount you’ll need to pay. Buying an iPhone is an investment you might be paying off for a couple of years, so reviewing all the elements of a deal now will pay off in the long-run.

Where has the best iPhone deals in the UK?

There’s hot competition amongst retailers and networks for who can offer the best iPhone at the lowest price. The retailer in the lead changes from month to month, but these providers tend to boast the cheapest deals.

Carphone Warehouse

Carphone Warehouse has more iPhone deals than any other telecommunications retailer. Because Carphone Warehouse is so big, they’re able to work with the phone networks to offer the best bargains.

EE Mobile

EE is one of the most reliable network operators, with solid phone coverage across the UK. If your priority is finding a cheap iPhone, opt for one of EE’s Good As New deals. As you might have guessed, this will get you money off a refurbished or second-hand iPhone that’s still in good condition.

O2 Mobile

O2 offers fantastic customer perks, including priority tickets to live events and discounts on various brands. The O2 Refresh program makes it easier to upgrade your phone before your contract expires – ideal if you always want the latest handset.

iD Mobile

iD Mobile is a relatively new phone network that’s trying to break into the UK market. To attract customers, the network is offering cheap deals on models like the iPhone 8.

Which iPhone comes with the best deal?

Since the release of the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, the cost of the iPhone 7 has dropped significantly. Right now, the average price of the iPhone 7 is £100 cheaper than last year: the price has fallen from £700 to £600 at most retailers. It’s not cheap, but that’s a much more realistic figure for many of us to swallow.

You could also consider the iPhone SE – the smaller, but more affordable, iPhone. The has similar specs to the iPhone 6S, but its 4-inch screen makes it easier to use with one hand. Now on sale for less than £300, the iPhone SE is the one for anyone who wants Apple’s build quality at a more appealing price.

How do the different iPhones compare?

With every iPhone they bring out, Apple makes updates to the phone’s technical specifications. The idea: each new iPhone will be technically more brilliant than the last. Sometimes, these updates will enhance every aspect of the phone, while other times the manufacturer will focus on specific features.

Here’s a brief overview of the most recent iPhone releases, including the pros and cons of each.

iPhone X

Editor’s verdict

The design of the iPhone X is more innovative than previous iPhones. For the first time on an iPhone, the home button is gone so that the phone’s display can take up its entire surface area. As well as aesthetic improvements, you’ll notice cool new features such as face recognition and animojis.

Pros

  • You can unlock it with your face
  • The Super Retina OLED display is stunning
  • The camera is arguably the best of any smartphone

Cons

  • Only available in two colours: silver and space grey

 iPhone 8

Editor’s verdict

The iPhone 8 has a premium feel thanks to its ultra-slim design and all-glass exterior. Inside, the iPhone 8 includes one of the best cameras of any smartphone and Apple’s latest hardware.

Pros

  • Includes A11 Bionic chipset, which is incredibly fast
  • Graphics processing unit (GPU) will support augmented reality
  • All-glass design supports wireless charging

Cons

  • Bezel around the screen reduces size of display
  • Wireless charging can be slow

iPhone 7

Editor’s verdict

The iPhone 7 has a bright display that gives videos, photos and games a richness of colour. In fact, I’d go as far as to say it’s as good as the display found on the more expensive iPhone 8. The phone’s speed and battery life are also much better than earlier iPhone models, such as the 6S.

Pros

  • Powerful enough for most phone users
  • An efficient battery that outlasts other iPhones
  • Various technical improvements compared to older iPhones

Cons

  • There are Android phones that cost less but have more features
  • The phone is water resistant, but not waterproof (it’ll survive a splash but not complete submersion)

UK iPhone releases: What to expect in 2018

Each year Apple showcases a new iPhone and we don’t expect 2018 to be any different. It’s expected that all new releases will follow the style of the iPhone X, with Apple replacing its traditional design with an edge-to-edge display. It’s also likely a new release will continue to use the OLED display found on the iPhone X, which has received rave reviews since the phone’s release.

A criticism of the iPhone X is one that’s plagued Apple phones for some time: substandard battery life and slow charge times. So, it’d be great to see Apple improve its battery technology to help its next phone run for longer. Typically, Apple updates its phone’s camera too. My prediction is that the next camera update will focus on giving you more flexibility to edit photos after they’re taken.

How will the best iPhone deals in the UK change throughout 2018?

Top iPhone deals are available all year round, although you’ll find the average price of older models falls with each new release. Because Apple tends to bring out new models in September, this means you’ll have to wait until Autumn to see a significant drop in the price of iPhones.

When shopping for a new iPhone, make sure to make the most of comparison sites with up-to-date deals. As 2018 rolls on, the place to find the best iPhone deals will change from month to month, and these sites will stay on top of the cheapest offers.
